Who is he?

who is this yeshua..?

"Yeshua" is the Hebrew or Jewish equivalent of the English name "Jesus," and because of its meaning and authenticity, there is validity in its usage -- especially in evangelism. In any case, the name of the Lord, in any language, has power and authority.

Yeshua's friends and disciples, all of whom were Jewish -- including Yeshua himself -- spoke in Hebrew or Aramaic, and pronounced his name "Yeshua'", which means "he will save".

The English name "Jesus" comes from the New Testament, which was written primarily in Greek. In attempts to pronounce "Yeshua" in Greek, his name was rendered "I?us". Finally, in modern English translations, it became "Jesus."

Yeshua is a contraction of the Hebrew name Y'hoshua (Joshua, in English), which means, "God saves" (literally YHWH or Adonai saves, where YHWH (in English, "Jehovah") is the unspeakable name of the Hebrew God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, God the Father, the Creator of the Universe).

Yeshua is also the masculine form of the Hebrew word "yeshu'ah", which means "salvation."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At Perfect Word, we believe that there is only one name under heaven and on the earth and under the earth which brings salvation, and that is the one whose name is salvation: The Word of God, Yeshua the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

We are not "religious" and certainly not dogmatic about the exclusive use of the name "Yeshua" in place of the name "Jesus", yet we believe there is a fresh revelation to be found in the name above all other names.

Below are some examples of the word "yeshu'ah" in the Old Testament. It's exciting to see, for all intents and purposes, the Lord's name all throughout the Hebrew Scriptures -- something many of us may have never seen before. After reading these passages, you may gain a whole new perspective on the Lord's name, why God chose for that to be His name, and why he came to earth. Shalom! (Peace be with you!)
